Kathryn and I stayed in the cabin of a dear friend who had
recently lost her husband. The cabin was filled with the cherished
memories of the love and the life they shared.
It felt as if both friends were present with us that evening.
A picture of a young girl smiling on the cabin wall,
And a cowgirl and a cowboy she drew when she was small
A young girl’s vision of the love she’d someday find
Hearts beat in rhythm and rhyme beneath the Washoe Pines.
Two hearts beat in rhythm and rhyme beneath the Washoe Pines.
Embroidered cowgirl shirts, hand-painted neck ties
A washed out and rocky road to a Pa Ra home up in the sky.
Keep your sweetheart memories alive.
Whispers the silent snow drifting deep beneath the Washoe Pines.
Whispers the silent snow drifting deep beneath the Washoe Pines.
Sometimes she hears him in the wind when the Washoe Zephyr blows
And he’s calling out to her in a voice so soft and low.
Walking hand and hand through the open spaces
They stood together for preservation.
Be kind, but never soft, draw the line.
Like the full moon shining down through the Washoe Pines.
Like the full moon shining down through the Washoe Pines.
Sometimes she hears him in the wind when the Washoe Zephyr blows
And he’s calling out to her in a voice so soft and low.
Never ending or beginning it’s life’s circle turning
These old bones keep dancing, and this old world keeps spinning round.
She touches an empty pillow at her side
As the sun rises once again above the Washoe Pines.
And the sun rises once again above the Washoe Pines.
